About

De Nederlandse School Ottawa was founded in 1982 to teach children from Dutch immigrants the language of their parents. As the School grew, there was a need for a formal structure and in 1990 it was incorporated as a non-profit organization under the official name Dutch Language Program Ottawa (DLPO). The following year, the School became an officially recognized charitable organization.

The courses listed on this website are administered and financially supported by the Ottawa Catholic School Board in partnership with the “Nederlandse School Ottawa” (Dutch School Ottawa). Donations form a major source of income for the Nederlandse School Ottawa and are tax-deductible.  According to the Statute of Incorporation, the objectives of the DLPO are:

The preservation, promotion and teaching of the Dutch language and culture, including all aspects of the Dutch-Canadian heritage.
